Canada is at a crossroads. We have an increasingly complex relationship with our southern neighbour and a brand-new government — plus a housing crisis, an affordability crisis, and heaps of uncertainty over AI, productivity, trade, and the job market. But here’s the thing about being at a crossroads: it presents a rare opportunity to try fresh approaches and take fast action. With that in mind, the Wealthsimple Magazine team asked leaders across Canada how they’d transform the country’s economy if given the chance. Click through to read what they said — plus, let us know your big ideas in the comments: https://lnkd.in/g9dhFugx

This week, we were proud to be an official partner of the inaugural Toronto Tech Week. From our CEO and Co-founder, Michael Katchen, taking the stage alongside Shopify President Harley Finkelstein and Cohere Co-founder Aidan Gomez to inspire the next generation of Canadian entrepreneurs — to welcoming nearly 100 engineers into our office to connect with our team — it was a week full of energy, ideas, and momentum. Thank you to everyone who took part for making it such a success! “We have a desperate need to build Canada and to really reshape our economy — and the only way to do that is through entrepreneurship,” said Katchen on Tuesday. The future of talent isn't a one-size-fits-all model. Our Chief People Officer, Diana McLachlan, recently spoke with The Globe and Mail on how we're building on-ramps to meaningful careers, starting with our new Launchpad program: a paid, year-long internship for recent high school grads. Explore it — and send any keeners our way: https://lnkd.in/gtF9JM6R
I spoke with Jared Lindzon at The Globe and Mail about why Wealthsimple is reimagining how we hire early talent. Talent doesn’t follow one path. Some of the sharpest thinkers are already building and learning by doing. We don’t want to miss them just because they didn’t take a traditional route. Our Launchpad internship is just the start. The bigger shift is how we design early-career programs to focus on attributes and skills like curiosity, resilience, a growth mindset, good judgement, and strategic thinking. I think that's how we open more doors, build stronger teams, and create on-ramps to meaningful careers. You can read the article here: https://lnkd.in/ggxsu3UF
